A divorce can be as emotionally difficult as a death in the family. In Wisconsin, a divorce is granted without fault. This means that marital wrongdoing is of limited relevance. There is often a misconception, however, that people going through a divorce cannot find a compromise to avoid a trial.
Our office uses best efforts to assist our clients in coming to an agreement with their spouse outside of court, rather than having the judge divide their property or decide what is best for their children. Inasmuch as the parties are in the best position to know their financial condition as well as what is in their children's best interest, it is our philosophy that reaching an agreement results in a better outcome for all involved.
In the event the parties, with the assistance of counsel, cannot come to a resolution, this office is experienced and prepared to present the disputed issues to the court for the judge to resolve.
